Are you passionate about our local towns and villages? Do you want to use your energy, skills, or lived experience to make a lasting difference for children, young people, and communities across Inverclyde?
The Newark Trust is currently recruiting new Trustees to join our voluntary Board!
Who We Are & What We Do
As a local grant-making charity, we work closely with frontline organisations to:
Fight child poverty across Inverclyde
Support children & young people with additional support needs
Upgrade vital community venues through our Community Places Fund
Who We Are Looking For
No previous board or governance experience is required—we provide a full induction, ongoing training, and a supportive, welcoming team. We are simply looking for people who care about Inverclyde and bring fresh perspectives.
We would particularly welcome individuals with skills or lived experience in:
The local Inverclyde community and third sector
Shifting the dial on child poverty
Supporting young people with additional support needs
Education
Local lived experience
(To ensure our leadership reflects the diverse communities we serve, we actively encourage applications from women and individuals from all personal and professional backgrounds.)
The Commitment
Meetings: 6 meetings a year (bi-monthly, alternating between online and in-person in Port Glasgow).
Extras: An annual strategy day, voluntary working groups, and occasional training sessions.
Visits: We encourage arranged visits to meet with organisations we support, to learn more about them and to see them in action.
