How We Fund

The Newark Trust is a grant-making charity based in Inverclyde. We focus our grant-making across three core priorities:

1. Fighting Child Poverty

2. Supporting Children & Young People with Additional Support Needs

3. The Community Places Fund

Priorities 1 & 2: Proactive & Relationship-Led Grants

For our first two priority areas (Child Poverty and Additional Support Needs), we do not run an open application process. Instead, we work proactively through local networks and partnerships to identify impactful projects across Inverclyde.

How it works:

• Identification: We regularly reach out to local organisations doing vital work in these spaces. We also welcome initial contact from groups who feel their mission aligns with our funding goals.

• Discussion: Our Charity Manager meets directly with potential partners to discuss their work, project goals, and local impact.

• Proposal: If there is a strong match, the Charity Manager develops a funding proposal for our Trustees, who make all final funding decisions.

Priority 3: The Community Places Fund (By Application)

The Community Places Fund is our open-application grant scheme.

• Focus: Capital funding to support physical improvements, repairs, and environment upgrades for venues used by local charities and community groups.

• Timeline: Opens once a year for a two-month application window.
