Opening of the Sea Cadet’s new slipway

The Newark Trust is delighted to have supported the completion of the Greenock and District Sea Cadet’s new slipway.

Sunday 29th October saw the opening of the Greenock & District Sea Cadet’s new slipway at Great Harbour Greenock.

Trustees from The Newark Trust were delighted to be in attendance and the charity’s Patron, Jennifer McLaren, had the honour of cutting the ribbon. The group were also treated to a quick run up the river to Port Glasgow in the cadet corp’s new rib.

The Sea Cadets are a fantastic local organisation helping to increase confidence and resilience in young people through adventure, excitement and friendship.

The Commanding Officer,  Lieutenant Commander Jim Hearl, thanking The Newark Trust said:

“The Greenock & District Sea Cadets would like to thank The Newark Trust for their most generous donation that allowed us to build our new slipway at the Boat Station. The new slipway will allow easier and safer access to the water, enhancing the Cadet experience and allowing our current and future Generations of Cadets improve their skills in Sailing, Rowing, Kayaking and Powerboating.

We are thrilled to be able to have this additional asset, and in was a pleasure to welcome the trustees to the boat station and show them how their money was spend and explain the difference their contribution has made.”

The Trustees hope that the new slipway will launch countless adventures for years to come.
