Greenock Torpedo Factory Club
With support from The Community Places Fund, Greenock Torpedo Factory Club has revitalised its facilities to create a safer, warmer, and more supportive environment for the local community.
How the Funding Helped:
New, Energy-Efficient Windows: Outdated, draughty windows were fully replaced in December. The immediate difference in temperature has brought down the heating bills—and members no longer need to keep their coats on indoors!
Essential Roof Repairs: Vital repair work was carried out on the small roof between January and February following severe storm damage. Fixing this was critical for indoor and outdoor safety, as the roof sits directly above the main exit route for both the dance hall and lower lounge.
A Dedicated Mental Health Space: An unused, vacant former TV room has been converted into a dedicated space for community wellbeing.
The Impact: The club is now significantly safer, draft-free, and more cost-effective to run, giving members a more comfortable space to gather while laying the groundwork to support local mental wellbeing for years to come.
